Dynamics of Polymer Chain

The dynamics of a polymer chain is closely related to the macroscopic properties of polymeric materials. The understanding of the dynamics of polymers is important to develop the materials having novel properties and functions. The time scale of the chain motion shows broad distribution from picosecond to hour; therefore, various methods have been employed to discuss the polymer dynamics. In our laboratory, the dynamics of polymer chains is studied by the fluorescence probe technique. The dye moiety is introduced to a polymer chain, and the dynamics behavior is examined by the time-resolved and spectroscopic measurement of the fluorescence emission from the dye moiety.
